Literary References for the song: Pigeons

Since I began releasing my music I have been frequently asked what my lyrics mean. Often I use allusions and references to other forms of art. While I would rather not explain directly the meaning of these lyrics, I will begin to post on my blog insight into some of the literary/visual art references and how they fit into my music.

Pigeons:

Lyric: “Colors stream past my face, dancing circles in front of my eyes.”

This lyric was inspired by a passage from Joseph Conrad’s novella, Heart of Darkness.

Quote from the book: “Flames glided in the river, small green flames, red flames, white flames, pursuing, overtaking, joining, crossing each other - then separating slowly or hastily.”
