The Beatitude Project was started in 2024 in conjunction with the release of Donovan Taylor’s debut album, Beatitude which was largely inspired by Donovan’s journey with mental illness and healing.
The project pairs live performance of Donovan’s album with the visual work of professional photographer, Ty Mecham - including color-illuminated portraits and emotional interviews of members of the Upper Manhattan community regarding mental health.
The project is currently on a national tour being featured in the following cities: New York City, Seattle, Chicago, Mesa, Salt Lake City, Hackensack and Los Angeles.
Portraits by Ty Mecham + Quotes from the Interviews
“I am a mess…to the point that maybe three, four times a week I think of suicide.”
“I am strong for living through what I’ve gone through…strong doesn’t always look like happy all the time, and that’s okay”
